Meet now What is NIRS? Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) , the technique on which Artinis devices e.g., the Brite and PortaLite are based, relies mainly on two characteristics of human tissue. First, the relative transparency of tissue to light in the NIR range. Second, the oxygenation-dependent light-absorbing characteristics of hemoglobin. By using several different wavelengths, the relative changes in oxy,- and deoxyhemoglobin concentrations can be displayed continuously. Optical oximetry, and near-infrared spectroscopy in particular, is a tool for assessing the oxygenation status and hemodynamics of various organs, e.g. muscle and brain. Using the NIRS principle, it becomes possible to monitor changes in oxy- and deoxyhemoglobin in a non-invasive, affordable way in either the lab or in the field without the need for specially trained personnel. The Brite family is the ultimate selection of multi-channel wearable fNIRS and offers greater flexibility and accuracy for research purposes. Learn more about the Brite family members here. Thanks to our customers, we are proud to be world-leading in (portable) NIRS publications. With extensive knowledge of the field, we develop top-quality products and go above and beyond to support you. Testimonials I’m super happy with Artinis customer service and the quality of the hardware. Artinis provides, by far, the best user-friendly fNIRS system in the market.” — Kell Grandjean da Costa, Postdoc at Tufts University, US. I am a big fan of Artinis! After many bad experiences with customer services from different companies during my career, I highly value companies that do not just care about selling you stuff, but also provide high quality after-sale support. Artinis provides by far the best after-sale support I have ever experienced! So, thank you for all the hard work!” — Felipe Mattioni Maturana, University hospital of Tübingen, Germany. We are very grateful for all the help and support we received. We can always rely on Artinis and their team.” — Sarah Mason, University College London. I’m very impressed with the material quality of the system; it’s by far the best manufactured commercial neurotech I’ve come across.” — Daniel Aaron, Student at University of California, Berkeley Artinis Medical Systems was founded in 2002 as a spin-off of Radboud University Nijmegen. At that time, a 12-channel fNIRS prototype built by Dr. Colier and co-workers at the Radboud University enabled my group to be the first in Europe to collect real-time cortical oxygenation maps of cognitive and motor tasks. With extensive knowledge of tissue optics and experience in solving biomedical challenges, the people at Artinis have been developing top-quality fNIRS instruments and oximeters–including wearable and wireless devices– for over a decade. We can attest that their technical and scientific support is unbeatable.” — Marco Ferrari and Valentina Quaresima, NIRS and fNIRS pioneers at the University of L’Aquila, Italy. Artinis Medical Systems (located half a world away in the Netherlands) have provided excellent service, always responding within 24hrs. It is all about the rapport and support that customers need.” — Dr. Wei-Peng Teo, Deakin University Australia With a little help from my friends. The Beatles said it -Artinis makes it happen. Consulting and customer service second to none.” — Prof. Andrew Macnab, University British Colombia Canada Working with Artinis over the last two and a half years has been a very exciting and incredibly productive collaboration. Being completely new to NIRS and aiming to take the technology underwater was a daunting task. But the support of Artinis at every level from developing the technology around the idea right up topublishing the work, is second to none. The support, enthusiasm, understanding that setbacks are inevitable, skill and expertise of Artinis as a collective, is ultimately what has made our science possible and for that I am truly grateful. With so many interesting questions across so many extreme diving species, we look so much forward to our continued endeavors with Artinis, their wonderful technology and their support.” — Dr. Chris McKnight, University of St. Andrews 1199 Research publications using Artinis NIRS devices How to cite artinis all nirs publications Optical Imaging made easy.
